Artist Qualifications

Handmade American & Canadian Craft Only.

Jury Process is Required.

IndieMe™ represents artist owned studios within the USA and Canada. Regardless of the participating showcase, all artists must qualify as follows:

  1. All work, especially main design elements, must be of original design by the artist/studio.
  2. No work may be assembled from commercial kits or commercial molds.
  3. All work must be made or assembled within the USA or Canada.

IndieMe™ reserves the right to refuse any enrollment for any reason, including not fully meeting these qualification requirements or misrepresentation in the type of work, quality of work, or quality of images presented for screening. After acceptance, artists are expected to continue presenting as good or better photography and must ask for additional screening before showing new media other than what was presented originally.

Be prepared for the jury process. Take great photo's on neutral backgrounds and be sure to price your work for wholesale. Your retailers will, on average, price your work at a minimum of 2x also known as keystoning. Many retailers price at 2.5 and above.

Showcases

When applying, each artist must select an appropriate showcase category for their work, which has the following additional requirements:

Our largest showcase featuring handmade crafts in all media.

  1. Artists are screened by providing 12 product images, and 1 image of the artist making their work.
  2. All work must be at least partially handmade, using some, little or no prefabricated material.
  3. All work must be made by the artist, or employees and contractors may be used.

Fine craft artists selling mostly above $80 wholesale.

  1. Artists are juried by providing 12 product images, and 1 image of the artist making their work.
  2. All work must be handmade using very little or no prefabricated material.
  3. All work must be made by the artist, or if employees or contractors are used, the work must be directly supervised by the artist within their studio or community.
  4. All work must be signed by the artist.
  5. All work displayed by the artist must meet the above requirements, and at least 80% of the work displayed must be at a wholesale price point of $80 per piece.

PLEASE NOTE: Intent of this showcase is for artists that are generally selling wholesale in the hundreds and above.

Jewelry artists and designers selling mostly under $80 wholesale.

  1. Artists are screened by providing 12 product images, and 1 image of the artist making their work.
  2. All work must be at least partially handmade, using some, little or no prefabricated material.
  3. All work must be made by the artist, or employees and contractors may be used.
  4. Jewelry bead artists must have a minimum of 5 successful/current wholesale accounts and will be asked to supply these references.

Fine jewelry artists selling mostly above $80 wholesale.

  1. Artists are juried by providing 12 product images and 1 image of the artist making their work.
  2. All work must be handmade using very little or no prefabricated material.
  3. All work must be made by the artist, or if employees or contractors are used, the work must be directly supervised by the artist within their studio or community.
  4. All work displayed by the artist must meet the above requirements, and at least 80% of the work displayed must be at a wholesale pricepoint of $80 per piece.

Handmade wearable art and fashion accessories.

  1. Artists are screened by providing 12 product images, and 1 image of the artist making their work.
  2. All work must be at least partially handmade, using some, little or no prefabricated material.
  3. All work must be made by the artist, or employees and con tractors may be used.

Unique candles, soaps, aromatics and well-being products.

  1. Artists are screened by providing 12 product images, and 1 image of the artist making their work.
  2. All work must be at least partially handmade, using some, little or no prefabricated material.
  3. All work must be made by the artist, or employees and contractors may be used.

Prints, photos, cards & unique gifts inspired by original art.

  1. Artists are juried by providing 12 product images.
  2. All work must be an original design of the artist studio, and may be manufactured/printed with contractors within the USA or Canada.
  3. None or little handmade processes are generally involved in making the products.

Highly original handmade work from artists new to the wholesale market.

  1. Artists are screened by providing 12 product images, and 1 image of the artist making their work.
  2. All work must be at least partially handmade, using some, little or no prefabricated material.
  3. All work must be made by the artist, or employees and contractors may be used.
  4. Artist must have a limited line of work.
  5. Artist is required to have limited experience in the wholesale market, less than 10 wholesale accounts and no trade show exhibition experience.
  6. Artist is required to advertise during the first 6 months after jury approval. Required is one ad in our Buyer's Guide and 6 online featured ads.
