Her journey started as she longed to take her creative side to a new level and balance a long technical career. Describe Your Work Each piece is designed, and hand cut by Chris. She uses traditional metalsmithing techniques to shape, texture and transform sterling silver into dimensional statement pieces. The sense of movement produced by Chris' pieces help draw the eye to wearer. How did you get started in the crafts business? As a young adult, Chris was given a beautiful sterling silver bracelet from her grandmother. It is an antique Scandinavian Inuit piece. From that point forward, where ever Chris traveled she was drawn to the artisans and their stunning jewelry creations. In 2018, Chris took classes and was mentored by a 30 year veteran from the New Hampshire League of Craftsmen. 2019 was my entry into selling my pieces. Chris consigns pieces in 4 shops and participated in a handful of local fine crafts events. How long have you been wholesaling? 2020 is Chris' inaugural year in wholesaling. She participated in American Handcrafted in Philadelphia this January and secured 3 new buyers. What percentage of your business is Wholesale? Retail? Commission, etc.? Having just entered the wholesale marketplace, Chris' percentage of wholesale is small. 30% of her work is from commissioned retail with the balance being retail events. What are your top 3 marketing methods for reaching new buyers? Instagram, events, artist cards in shops. How has IndieMe helped your business? The support I've received from IndieMe is fantastic.
