16 January Artist Spotlight: Dancing Moon Jewelry January 16, 2018 By Jackie Adamany Artist Spotlight, News & Spotlights naomi martnick, dancing moon jewelry 0 Naomi Martnick, Sedona, AZ Naomi is a skilled artist passionately devoted to the mission of inspiring others to live their life's passion and never stop dreaming. She created Dancing Moon, a handmade jewelry line that breaks the mold with a focus on expressing our connection to peace and symbolism. Describe Your Work I absolutely love creating, teaching art to others, and making a line of jewelry that inspires people to live their dreams! I myself am inspired by the metaphysical symbolism of gemstones and use this to design pieces of jewelry that speak to the wearer on a soul level. I am also a budding yoga teacher which comes through my creations, especially the Chakra line. How did you get started in the crafts business? I have been creating since a very young age and as I got older I made a decision that this was something that I wanted in everyday life. First, I went to school for Interior Design, and after college I couldn't find a job that was creative enough for me. So, I went on to manage an adorable jewelry shop and got inspired to create my own line. I have always been creating but this job helped me focus to developing my skills in jewelry making. I took a few classes and kept at my dream. After making a move across country I decided it was the right time to give my dreams a try! How long have you been wholesaling? I've been selling wholesale since starting my business in early 2014 What are your top 3 marketing methods for reaching new buyers? Going into shops and scouting out places in person is definitely my favorite. I love to travel, and anytime I do I find myself looking for those special shops. Having an online presence is important so marketing through my website and social media is key. I also scout out shops online and email new buyers whenever I find a great match. What percentage of your business is Wholesale? Retail? Commission, etc.? Currently it's about 20% Wholesale 50% Retail and 30% Commission. I love finding new shops and plan on growing my wholesale accounts this year! How has IndieMe helped your business? I am still fairly new to IndieMe but It has helped me really expand my line and see it in a new way - from the buyers perspective. This has helped me design for the shops that I dream of being in while also helping make that a reality! What advice do you have for new craft artists? Being an artist is all about passion and being a small business owner is about channeling that passion into the physical and accomplish all that you need to. Always keep dreaming and growing and sharing your inspiration with the world. What advice do you have for new craft galleries? I love craft galleries, boutiques, and specialty shops and I dream of having my own shop one day! Passion isn't just important for the artist, it's also important for the person selling those inspirational and unique pieces. Create lasting relationships with the artists you carry in your shop. This helps bring that vision and connection through the gallery. Also remember to always have fun! Shops are such an amazing part of making artists dreams, and your dreams, a beautiful reality!
